Who we are

Society of St Vincent de Paul in the North

Over £2.98 million was spent on the needy in Northern Ireland during 2013. As well as expending this in direct financial assistance, other essential items, such as household furniture, were also distributed.
We offer direct, confidential assistance, which is non-judgmental and based on the need of the individual or family. Our only criterion is need. Home visitation remains the cornerstone of our work. Members continue to visit the needy, disadvantaged and vulnerable, offering spiritual, financial and material assistance. 1,660 members in 183 branches. Without your generosity we could not help those in need to maintain their self-respect and dignity.
Whilst cash and material donations are always welcome, we are constantly looking for new volunteers. Please consider joining us and becoming a member - as little as two hours per week would be greatly appreciated and would undoubtedly brighten the lives of those who are isolated from things most people take for granted.
The Society is also involved in many other activities, some of which are listed below:
  • Breakfast & Afterschool Clubs
  • Holiday Home for the Elderly
  • Cross Community Work
  • Crèches & Child Day Care Centres
  • Placement Opportunities
  • New Furniture & White Goods Outlets
  • 28 ‘Vincent’s’ Clothing Outlets
  • Hospital & Prison Visitation
  • Twinning with Ghana & Botswana
